Islam

The Arabic word "Islam" means peace and submission. A broader meaning of the word "Islam" is to achieve peace by submitting to the will of Allah. Belief in one God constitutes the very foundation of Islam. Muslims believe that there is no deity except Allah. He is absolutely transcendent. Allah is the Creator and the Sustainer of the universe, Who is similar to nothing and nothing is comparable to Him. The message of Islam as brought by all the prophets is to worship Allah alone and to avoid the worship of His creation either directly or indirectly.

"Say, we believe in Allah and that which was revealed unto us, and that which was revealed unto Abraham and lshmael and Isaac and Jacob, and the tribes, and that which was vouchsafed unto Moses and Jesus and the prophets from their Lord; We make no distinction between any of them, and unto Him we have surrendered" (The Holy Quran 3:84)

For a person to enter the threshold of Islam, one simply has to declare "Shahada" with pure intentions and a believing heart. "There is no god worthy of worship except Allah and Muhammad (peace be upon Him) is His messenger." Muslims consider Islam to be not just a religion of rituals and dogmas but their "deen" which encompasses a complete code of life.
